FRAUDULENT E-MAILS

Take Care from “Phishing Attacks “

Dear Sir/ Madam,

We understand that there are fraudulent emails also known as Phishing emails going out to customer’s of various banks globally luring them to update sensitive information like User id, Password , Credit/ Debit Card Number by clicking on an link received via an email which redirects users to fraudulent Website . This Fraudulent Website looks exactly similar to Bank Of India’s authentic Website . But, how do you ensure that you are transacting with actual Bank Of India Website and not fake one. Here are some very important tips to protect yourself from such Phishing attacks.

Tips :

a. To ensure that you are going to an authentic Bank of India Website, type in entire Bank of India website address into your browser instead of clicking on any link directly. Always type in http://www.bankofindia.co.in into the browser address field to go the Bank of India website and from there Internet Banking Website (Retail and Corporate).

b. Address of our authentic/ genuine Internet Banking Website is https://starconnectcbs.bankofindia.com. It opens only when you click on Internet Banking link available on our Homepage(www.bankofindia.co.in) and then Retail/ Corporate user. It opens in a separate POP-UP frame / Window. It doesn’t open if you type address directly in the browser.

c. Before inputting your Username and Password in the window , make sure you see “Padlock” Symbol on the bottom right side of the Webpage.

d. Bank Of India never asks you to update your sensitive information by email . However it is a best practice to update your Mobile No. and Contact address by visiting our authentic Website so that, we can keep you informed about Bank’s new schemes, announcements, any security alerts etc on your email id, mobile phones. Also, we advise you to use “Virtual Keyboard” available on our Website.

e. If you receive an email claiming to be from Bank of India regarding updating sensitive account information, let us know by forwarding the same e-mail at infosecurity @bankofindia.co.in with a copy to boi.starconnect@bankofindia.co.in or contact us at 91-22-40919191

f. Kindly install and update latest Antivirus, Anti Spyware , Patches in your PC and most importantly change your password ( Keep it atleast of 8 letters with combination of alphabets(a to z) , Numericals( 0 to 9) and Special Characters( $ , # , * etc)) at regular intervals.

Sincerely,
Chief Information Security Officer(CISO)
